EDIT: Oh my gosh, a DD? Wow, Thank you so much DA! I'm honored!
No, not the fruit! "Mellon" is the elvish word for friend :3

Anyway, I'll get back to that in a sec. I decided to finish a sketch of Legolas and Tauriel I did a few weeks ago to practice anthro/lighting/photoshop shading. The works :3 I must say, I like how it turned out! At first I didn't think the sketch looked enough like the characters, but it ended up coming out pretty well ^ ^ Woot woot anthro lionss!
Back to the details! I'm honestly surprised how much I like these two :3 I'm normally a huge fan of canon couples (which Kili and Tauriel aren't), but more against non-canon pairings. However, if they had to have any type of "romance" I would have preferred it to be between Legolas and Tauriel. Not this mushy romance crap, because it didn't make sense, and it becomes more flimsy each time I see The Desolation of Smaug (I've seen it four times and still hate Kili/Tauriel). I'm talking more of a friendship romance. Something that's been there, something committed. Something that doesn't have to be rushed because it's already a fact. A loving partnership! Loyal people fighting along-side each other for a greater cause. Something that's consistent with Tolken's themes. Hence my title "Mellon," the elvish word for friend. Regardless, I would have enjoyed the film far more without any added romance because the book itself is so awesome! But if it had to happen, I vote for this. Anyway, a bit of fanart.

Yeah, that's one of the main things I was so looking forward to with the movie (when I first saw Tauriel I thought, "oh, Legolas is going to get a girl!"), and then it ended up being Kili/Tauriel. It was just disappointing and inconsistent.
So thanks! ^ ^
