North-west lands map

Description

I love maps <3

I have been seeing a ton of maps as I've been reading lotr, so I decided it would be fun to make a quick map for the "north-west lands/land of the six realms" from my graphic novel thing. It's set in medieval-ish time, on a planet entirely made of of animals and mythical creatures like dragons and gryphons and such.

My four main characters live in Ryowood. It's the only remaining civilized wood that hasn't been corrupted with settlements and structures.

The only structure that was ever there was a small town near the cliffs of Aganaw. The only structure left of this town is Ryowood watchtower, which is used by the forest guardians to warn against dragon attacks from the north.

The forest, and the village was burned down in the dragon wars of old. The forest protector in those dark times was one of the few good dragons, known by myth and story as Ryu. The dragon drove out the others and made way for the forests to grow back. Upon his death in the last battle of the dragon wars the forests he protected were named Ryothane in his honor. The young raccoon, Ryu, was also named after him.

The six realms of the north-west lands, Riverton, Ryothane, Tera, Myrebom, Reinstown, and Easten village, are the last of the tame lands of the west. They are the only free realms not governed by kings, dictators, or royalty, left in the planet. The land around them is made of of mountains, rivers, and hard terrain which makes it hard for armies to move across them and take over, so the rich lands of the west stay unspoiled and free.

The guardians of each of the six realms meet in Riverton for secret meetings to update each of them on whats happening in the outside world now and then.

Despite being very secure, the west lands do have one venerability, which is dragons. They can fly over the barriers and don't need to bring weapons with them. So the fire breathers pose a large threat to the west lands.

Now I'll post a description of each realm.

Riverton- Riverton is a small town on the river. It' soften cloudy there, with harsh weather which mostly consists of rain. The buildings are made of rocks and straw thatched roofs. It's a fishing area, for the most part, made up of all sorts of animals and creatures. Plants grow well there, when it's not raining, the sun is most certainly shining. There are many places to eat with fish, lots of fish. The inhabitants of Riverton are known for large parties with big bonfires and good food.

Ryothane- Ryothane is a large forest with a huge amount of inhabitants, most of which the type that you would usually find in a forest. It's known for beautiful trees, rich landscape, lots of ponds, creeks, rivers and lakes. As well as it's red mountains which are made up of mostly red clay-like rock. It's most beautiful in Autumn, when the trees change all rich colors of red, orange, yellow and brown, but even as the leaves change the leaves that still are green are bright as ever. The forest floor is made up of soft, green grass. And the trees are just far enough apart to let large pecks of golden sunlight in. There are tons of dens, notholes, nests, caves, and gopher holes for it's citizens to nest in. On summer nights there are large parties with dancing and food and lots of folks who know how to enjoy life. The weather in Ryothane is just like any other place, only it's cool and refreshing in the spring, warm and soothing in the summer, but never hot, cooler and energetic in the fall, and in the winter time, the forest transforms into a winter wonderland, when all the animals decorate trees and sip hot nectar, and sing songs for the grand celebration of Christmas. It's never unpleasant there. Always happy. Even when it does rain, it's not a harsh thunderstorm with leaves blowing about, it's a calm, soothing refreshing rain. The kind that makes you want to leap out of your den and play in the tender drops. Ryothane is the most protected of the six because it is surrounded by mountains and rivers. The mountains also have many caves the citizens can hide in in case of an emergency. Some of the caves are tunnels that lead to the other side of the range.

Tera- Tera is a humble plains village. The inhabitants lead a simple life, harvesting wheat and baking bread to take to the markets and to the other realms of the west lands. They have a great lake for water, and playing and enjoying. Fishing is also popular there. The animals there do an honest days work, then go home to be with their families and tell stories by the fire. Young animals are educated in small schools, Tera is one of the few realms who exercise that type of education.

Myrebom- The realm of Myrebom is hardly a town or village but rather a manor. It's ruler is a "wizard" as some people call him. He is not a wicked animal, baddling in the dark arts of black magic, but rather an animal of science, who uses potions, extracts and such to heal the wounded. His sanctuary for patients is Myrewood. He keeps a watchful eye on them until they are fully recovered. The name of this "wizard" is Rufus. His appearance is a scruffy komondor dog and he walks with a quick trot. His realm is light, and ary. Often with an essence of light greenish-blue. It's a pleasant place, though sometimes cool.

Reinstown- Reinstown is a large village settled atop a plateau, and around it. It is, for the most part, a blacksmiths village. They also import goods from outside the barriers of the west lands and market them to the six realms. They make wagons, horse shoes, weapons, and silverware as well as shovels, rakes and farm tools. The inhabitants are mostly small animals like rodents, stoats and raccoons, the type that are small and posses nimble fingers to do the detailed work, meanwhile there are also large animals there, like bears and minotaurs who do the heavy lifting and work requiring more weight. You'd think this unlikely combination wouldn't get along, but surprisingly, they do. The buildings there are built high. the higher levels are built over the streets. They are built mostly out of wood, straw and metal. The wood was taken from the southernmost part of Ryothane forest, which it's inhabitants did not agree with much. Ryothane and Reinstown are often at odds with each other because of their differences.

Easten village Easten Village, is a very simplistic small village located in the Easten plains. They neither import food, nor make anything substantial enough to  to export. They mostly life on the small amount of food that they grown, and for the most part are made up of 3-5 main clans. There you find hares, squirrels, foxes, turtles, badgers and beavers. The homes are mostly made out of wood, and treelimbs, made by the beavers. Some of them go underground, some of them go far up on mounds of dirt, but for the most part they are hardly complex. The nearby river is used for water and fishing purposes.

I'll probably write more later. But there ya go, some info on the six realms.

Enjoy the map so far ^ ^

This sounds like an awesome graphic novel
